Introduction

For my Robotic Software Architecture(COMP9434) course, our main aim was to learn to use ROS2 and use it to make a real robot do something reasonably complicated. While the default option was to use a Turtlebot 2(link) to navigate a maze and follow basic signals(a precursor for autonomous driving), there were also 3 special projects that were offered. The option I chose was to about using Pose and Gaze to control/interact with a Fetch robot(link Fetch Mobile Manipulator)1.

Variations

  • Troubles with VM
  • Troubles with connectivity
  • Had only about 5~6 weeks to come up with an application and implement+test+demo it
  • We couldn’t set up NVidia Pose libraries on our laptops
